Welcome
At The Birch Clinic, we offer trauma-informed, compassionate therapy for individuals, couples and families.
We believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and compassionate. We don’t see therapy as a one-size-fits-all model; instead, we work alongside you to understand your unique needs and to create space for healing and change.
Most people come to us feeling overwhelmed, stuck or isolated. Our role is to provide the expertise, tools and care that can help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Dr Jodie Waterhouse
I’m Dr Jodie Waterhouse, a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of experience in the NHS and private practice. I founded The Birch Clinic to provide trauma-informed, compassionate therapy to individuals, couples and families. I work with a carefully selected network of psychologists with a range of specialisms.
Over my career I’ve worked in specialist services across perinatal mental health, trauma and child and adolescent psychology. This means I have extensive experience supporting people through birth trauma, grief and loss, anxiety and low mood, and the challenges of ADHD and neurodiversity.
I draw on a range of approaches and integrate these to provide support which feels individualised. Above all, I believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to your needs.
I have been described as a warm and compassionate psychologist. My interest in the transition to parenthood, comes from my own experiences of becoming a parent and the fourth trimester.
Why The Birch Clinic?
I chose the name because birch trees symbolise resilience, renewal, and new beginnings. This feels closely linked to what therapy can offer – a chance to grow, even after difficult or painful experiences.

Some examples of types of therapy we use in our practice:
Compassion Focused Therapy / EMDR / Trauma Focused CBT / Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) / CBT / relational therapies / Internal Family Systems (IFS) / ADHD coaching sessions and adjustment / parenting coaching / attachment / perinatal and mother and baby psychology / family therapy / couples therapy /
